Play Leaders and Staff
All of the staff that work at the WOW Hub are either qualified or undertaking qualifications in a related area of interest. The staff employed at the WOW Hub, are age 16 plus and have a DBS check in place. Whilst our Play Leaders are equipped with the skills to manage groups of children in our activity classes, the behaviour of any child visiting the setting for open play or activity classes, remains the sole responsibility of their parent/carer at all times.
Here’s a little bit of information about me….

I moved to Leek in 2019 with my daughter Aria as we fell in love with the beautiful surroundings such as Rudyard Lake and The Roaches.
In 2004, I qualified as a primary school teacher at the University of Hertfordshire and over the years I found my passion in the Early Years (0-5 year olds) and Special Needs. I was part of a communication project which highlighted the lack of communication and language skills in young children over the recent years so I am exited to be a part of the Wow Hub where communication and language is at its core.
Since moving to Staffordshire, I am now a children’s yoga teacher certified through ‘Kidding Around Yoga tm’ and run children’s yoga sessions called ‘Yogis Assemble’. Kidding Around Yoga specialises in sharing yoga and meditation with toddlers to 12 years olds. The sessions include music produced by the founder, Ms. Haris Lender, games, as well as other tools and activities to help children focus their minds and stretch their bodies. The children have so much fun while practicing yoga poses, meditation and pranayama (deep breathing). Yoga and meditation has been considered for a long time as a wonderful means of stress management. KAY uses a system based on the classical study of yoga and transforms it into an experience for children to both introduce them to yoga as well as inspire them to develop a practice and give them tools to take into adulthood.
I’m also part of the committee for Westwood Preschool in Leek, helping with fundraising whenever I can!
I recently trained to be a Reading Fairy and can’t wait to offer sessions for parents and children. Reading Fairy was created by early reading experts, Reading Fairy classes for babies, toddlers and pre-school children lay the foundation for learning to read and loving books for life.
We believe in learning through play and our action-packed classes across the UK and online include: fun phonics and word games; sensory and performance storytelling; interactive songs and nursery rhymes; speaking and listening activities; picture book time and more!
Rebecca Clarke
Play Leader
Working in education is a pathway I have discovered since having my little girl, Isla.
Being a parent has deepened my appreciation for the role educators play in a child’s development and inspired me to pursue a career in this field.
Currently, I am studying for a degree in primary education, which equips me with the knowledge and skills to create engaging and effective learning experiences for young children. I am passionate about fostering a love of learning, encouraging curiosity, and supporting each child’s unique journey.
As play leader, I have the privilege of creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment where children can explore, imagine and express themselves freely. Witnessing their joy and curiosity is incredibly rewarding. My personal experiences and academic pursuits have solidified my commitment to making a positive impact at the Wow Hub.
Alison Spooner
Play Leader
Hi, my name is Ali, I am a mum to my 4 children and 2 bonus children.
I have always had a great passion for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, I find it such a rewarding and joyful career and feel so fortunate to be able to provide support and be a part of a child’s journey through the adventures of their young minds and curiosities.

I have recently completed my Level 3 Diploma in supported teaching and learning, my next step is to broaden my knowledge within SEND, and to also continue studying towards a degree in SEND education in the near further, but my aim is to continue working alongside these amazing children.
I previously gained a qualification in massage and reflexology too. I will be launching my own independent venture as part of the wider WOW Hub team in due course, offering baby massage and reflexology classes.
Studying, allowed me to be able to expand my knowledge and skills to be able to provide an inclusive and fun learning and supporting experience for all young children, their abilities and uniqueness. I am currently undertaking a Play Therapy course, which I will be implementing into my approach at the WOW Hub. Being a play leader at Leek Wow Hub, allows me to help create an inclusive, safe and encouraging surrounding for all children. I feel all learning needs to be fun and inclusive, this is what I will bring to my role as a play leader, at the Leek Wow Hub, all this is possible.
